Recognizing Self-Sabotage

If you are not moving steadily in the direction of what you say you want, you may be sabotaging yourself. There are many ways to sabotage ourselves, including: sub-conscious beliefs that we are not good enough, incompetent or unimportant. These usually translate into a belief that we are not deserving of success or achieving our goals. Such beliefs chip away at our self-worth and self-esteem.


It is only in understanding the mechanisms and patterns that underlie self-sabotage that we can begin to free ourselves. Becoming more self-aware offers each of us the opportunity to accept who we are. In fact, by opening to our most genuine self, we diminish the tendencies to distort, blame, judge, deny, or pretend. By embracing our strengths and vulnerabilities, we begin to relax and accept how imperfectly perfect we are.  This self-acceptance transforms into self-love and we begin to interact and be in the world with greater success, joy, and fulfillment.


The process of breaking through denial, facing our fear, anger, and other difficult emotions, allows us to make peace with our pain, and can lead to an ending of the internal war within us. This is such a monumental step we take on our own behalf because it frees us to step fully into the greatest expression of who we authentically are.


In the end, finding the wisdom inside the wounds we have endured is one of the most important discoveries each of us will ever make; and it's gift is emotional freedom and deep joy.
